Book Printing

Hardbound Book Printing

These can be cloth covered (like a textbook or novel), leather covered (like a journal) or can have a printed and laminated cover (like a photo or art book). Hardbound books all have end sheets that help adhere the text pages to the inside of the cover.

Softbound Book Printing

These books have a soft card-stock cover. The covers are normally printed in full color with a laminate applied for durability. The text pages and cover are held together with glue at the spine. If the book has a high page count, the text pages and cover are often stitched and then glued at the spine.

Board Book Printing

These books have thick, hard covers and thick, hard text pages, and are normally printed in full color. The binding and pages are durable, hence their use for children's books. The text pages and cover are held together with glue at the spine. If the book has a high page count, the text pages and cover are often stitched and then glued at the spine.

Wire-O or Spiral-Bound Book Printing

These books have a soft, card-stock cover. The covers are usually printed in full color with a laminate applied for durability. The text pages and cover are held together with exposed spiral wire or plastic binding. A concealed Wire-O bind features a binding that is covered (the spine has printing on it for viewing when on a shelf). This type of binding allows the pages to be laid perfectly flat—this is a major advantage for books like cookbooks, journals or instructional books.

Text Book Printing

There are only a handful of textbook printers in the world who have the presses required to print textbooks and these printers must be reserved months in advance. Textbook printing is highly unique and quite unlike printing other forms of books.
